Constructing a Profile: Business Card

 

Inspirations

These were the inspiration for my Business card design as you can see the main designs for these are quite similar to mine with the technological like design amongst the sides or the whole card in general, the designs of these cards also show the links to details of them such as Email and phone number but that is just like every other card so I decided to do something a bit more detailed and added more details to my business card. What was also inspired was the logo design and how each were different from the other and that is the main reason why I made the logo like it is above the card I have made, these cards have different designs when it comes to positioning as in where things are placed as in the logos are placed on different places like the corners of the far side where as mine is placed on the top side to show of the detail that I had displayed. What makes these designs effective to an audience is that they properly promote and prioritize in making sure their promotional cards are good enough for other business's or employees to show, the designs are also effective because a plain blank card would not do it for some people and will most likely turn them away from a business.

First Design (without Logo)

Here is my first attempt at a business card as this was made on Adobe Photoshop and constructed in different styles to make it look like a proper business card, I included things such as a link or showcase of the links of names of the types of things that are shown on a business such as Phone Number, Location, Email and YouTube channel link which shows how those that might see this if this was a proper business can get the options to see these links, I used a blue background designed by someone on google and altered the background color to purple which was a good design in my eyes which was good because it came out right when all the other details are done into it. Another thing I included was black boxes with Icons in to show off more style and detail in this card and the logos I included was a Phone icon to show off the contact details, an google images logo cropped to fit into the box to symbolize the Location of this business, an envelop to show the email for the business and finally a YouTube icon to show the main channel of the business, what was also included was the website link that is in the making for this production. The main logo of the business "Synchron Media" was designed in the Techno like font and the the outlines of the font was changed to a light purple to show off the design and how Technological it looks which shows the style of the color.

Feedback

The feedback I have received for this business card design was sorted into 4 different sections of questions and I asked about what was good about the image, what could be improved and what business would use a design like the one I made, the main feedback from what went well for this business card was the liking of the color scheme and this was followed by feedback of the audience liking the font and how it captured a future representation style of card, this allowed me to improvise for future projects and also allowed me to gain an idea for what I can do with my logo so that I can combine both together to fully finish this project. 

Other feedback I received was a list for improvements to make on my business card where most comments were about adjusting the text size and main color of them since it was a bit difficult to read at times, other improvements that were commented were making the details more sizeable for reading capabilities and adding other details onto card for more promotional benefits like LinkedIn which was taken into consideration. 

The type of business's that those recommended would look into this sort of design were business's like graphic design/special effects companies which was a good comparison when comparing them to a different logos that are similar looks to my design. Other business's that the audience recommended was media based companies and that could be companies that focus on a subject like photography or filming which allows me to make other products mainly focusing on those types of subjects.

Process of the Business Card Design

The way I made my Business Card was started out by finding a background for the main base of the business card and I decided to change the main color for the background from a blue color to a purple color, I figured that changing the color was a good idea because it wouldn't be copying from the original picture and it would look like my own design, how I did the color transformation was that I selected all on the the image and then to image and to the adjustment option where it gave a selection of options to use from so I chose the Hue/Saturation option and messed around with colors but came to the conclusion that the purple option was the best design choice for my business card and so that was my ideal choice for the main background color for my design.

How the font was made was by inserting a text box tool onto the business card and typed in the name of my brand and then went to font to select a different choice, after scrolling through a bunch of different designs I found the right one for my card and resized the name to make it fit more onto the main design and then I selected the brand name and selected layers, with that I selected text layer and selected Blending Options which now allowed me to make my own design with the logo with the acceptation of ticking the Stroke option, with that I changed the outline of the brand logo to a purple color but more lighter to the main background so that it wouldn't blend in and so others can see it better. The options for the social media links were a simple style as I got 4 separate black boxes and wrote what social link to add on, to make more detail I added icons of the links into the black boxes, one with a phone icon for the mobile number, a google maps icon for the location, an email icon for the link to the business email and finally a YouTube icon for the brands main YouTube channel, these fitted in quite well into the main design for the business card and also a link to the Wix website was added for a link to main website for this brand and will show off all the work done by myself.

Evaluation

My Final thoughts on my business card is that I think it is a very well produced piece of work due to its coloring, detail and overall design. What I think went well was the design choices I made when designing this work such as how I organized the links to the different parts of the card such as the Email, the YouTube Channel, the Location and the Phone Number and these were only the start of the detail analysis of what went well because what also went well was the main concept of the Business card and how well it was put together, what I think was well put together was main concept of the card as the background has a nice edited color from Blue to Purple as it had a good sense of style while it was in production, what also went well was the main logo for the card as it had a different font style while the outlines were highlighted a purple color to fit into the finished product and where it was placed was right as it was compared to other existing business cards, the Logo also fits well into the design of the business card when combined together and makes it look like a futuristic type style of card and that was what I was mainly reaching for, the colors fit well together and it makes the logo not just blend in with the original colors of the background but instead makes it stand out for others to see.

What I think should be improved on about my Business card is that the spaces could be filled in with some other design to maybe fit with the futuristic design and add more details or give descriptions about what is the main focus behind the Business card, what also should be improved is the texts could use a re-color to match the overall gimmick of the design, the colors I would go for would be a purple like color or maybe a red color to match the logos of the social media links and email, what else I think should be improved is the positioning of parts on the card as I feel like that could be improved on a little bit, what should be positioned a bit better is the social links to the details as it is a bit hard to read on some occasions and maybe a font change would be better for the design, what else I think should be positioned better is the link to the website as it looks left out amongst the rest of the links so I think positioning it with the others could make it a more well design business card.
